Since 6:30 this morning, activists from Greenpeace have stopped the construction of a nuclear power plant type EPR, on the site of Flamanville.
I fully support this action, which has highlighted the appalling contradiction between rhetoric and practice with regard to nuclear energy.
There are those who talk about ecology, and those who do. Those who speak of reducing dependence on oil and the atom, and those who are truly able to put in place the policies for reducing waste and developing renewable energies, with a large number of new jobs, as have done almost all of our European partners.
During the election campaign, much has been talked about changing energy policies… The government authorized yet, by decree, a few days before the 1st round, the construction of the EPR…
The withdrawal of the decree authorizing the construction is an important goal of the second round. I ask Segolene Royal confirm qu'élue May 6, it will not allow the continuation of work of this reactor ruinous, unnecessary and obsolete.
The victory of the left and environmentalists in the legislative elections that follow should help to finally finish with this logic of secrecy and rushing ahead.
