Bernard Kouchner described the appointment of Christine Ockrent his companion to the direction of public broadcasting outside "good choice" and suggested he might resign in the event of a conflict of interest. There was "a conflict of interest, I will be the first to admit, I did not at all mêlerai audiovisual outside, I will make an oath," said Bernard Kouchner France Inter radio on Monday. "I do not see why [it is] always women who should resign," said the foreign minister. "I think it will go very well, if it does not go well, I will be there to answer your criticisms and make the necessary decisions," he said.

A controversial appointment
The appointment by the Elysée Palace on February 20 by Christine Ockrent the post of CEO of the new holding France World arouses controversy. Journalists' unions are concerned about "a conflict of interest" and see this appointment as a threat to the "credibility" of this new umbrella entity that channels France 24, and TV5Monde RFI. The future will depend in effect holding of the Prime Minister.

A "good choice" according to the minister
Kouchner spoke of the professional qualities of her companion. "I think she has a talent recognized international expertise indisputable. She worked in all television channels in the world. It is a good choice," said the minister.
"I know very independent (...) the last 26 years she has not interviewed once and I think it will continue," he assured.
On 21 February on RTL, Christine Ockrent had reacted to criticism following his appointment. She had complained of "being periodically reduced to the status of 'woman' by denying his identity, his skills, his career". "I look forward to the time when we say 'man' and where you ask [him] to sacrifice his identity, his skills, his journey to bouquets of flowers," she had said.
